Treason case lodged against MQM chief & other leaders<\/strong><\/p>\n

LONDON : Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Tuesday apologised to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif and Director General (DG) Rangers Maj-Gen Bilal Akber for his vitriolic speech a day earlier in which he referred to Pakistan as \u201ca cancer for entire world\u201d.INP reported.
\n\u201cFrom the depth of heart, I beg pardon for my remarks against Pakistan, the establishment including Gen Raheel Sharif and DG Rangers,\u201d the MQM chief said. “I was under severe mental stress over extra-judicial arrests and precarious condition of my workers sitting at hunger striking camp.”
\nHe further said: “Being a Pakistani, I assure the Pakistani people, establishment, army, ISI, all higher authorities and leaders that I will never use such words again”.
\nIt may be mentioned here that the exiled leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) gave a telephonic address to his supporters in which he raised slogans against Pakistan and referred to the country as \u201ca cancer for entire world\u201d.
\nThe paramilitary Rangers have sealed the MQM headquarters in the commercial hub of Karachi and detained five of its top leaders including Farooq Sattar, Amir Liaquar and Khawaja Izharul Hassan, after supporters of the party stormed the office of ARY News channel.
\n“We have sealed the MQM headquarters, their media office and (their) hostel, some weapons have also been recovered,” Khurram Shahzad, the sector commander for the regional paramilitary Rangers force told reporters on Tuesday.

\nHussain is known for his fiery addresses to his supporters in Karachi though a loudspeaker connected to a telephone in his London home.
\nMean While A treason case against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain and other leaders for raising anti-Pakistan slogans has been lodged, reported on Tuesday.
\nAccording to Inspector General Sindh A.D Khawaja, the case has been filed under the provisions of Pakistan Penal Court at Artillery Maidan Police Station.
\nHe said that legal action would be taken against Altaf Hussain for his inflammatory speeches outside Karachi Press Club.
\nLeaders and workers who chanted slogans and statements against the sovereignty of Pakistan during MQM hunger strike have also been named in the case.
\nOn the other hand, Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan contacted senior British officials and demanded action against Altaf\u2019s derogatory speeches that sparked strife in Karachi.
\nHe also denounced that the MQM chief was using British land to provoke hostility in Pakistan.
\nNisar also called on Directorate General (DG) Rangers and directed him to launch stern action against the violators. He also instructed to beef up security arrangements of all the media houses.
\nA.D Khawaja said the final decision to file cases against MQM was taken during police officials\u2019 high-level meeting in the city.
\nEarlier, Ranger took MQM\u2019s Farooq Sattar, Khawaja Izharul Hassan, Aamir Liaquat and Amir Khan into custody after violent MQM workers clashed with police and surrounded the office of a private news channel in Karachi by taking down the gate of Madina Mall and broke the windows of the building.
\nThe violence erupted soon after the powerful exiled leader of MQM chief Altaf Hussain, gave a telephone address to his supporters in which he castigated the media for not giving due coverage of his workers.<\/p>\n

Opposition presents resolution against MQM<\/strong><\/p>\n

LAHORE; Opposition in Punjab Assembly on Tuesday submitted resolution condemning attack on media outlets in Karachi.
\nThe resolution, presented by PTI member Shoaib Siddiqui, slams MQM chief Altaf Hussain\u2019s inflammatory and anti-Pakistan speech and party workers\u2019 attack on media offices in Karachi.
\nThe resolution expresses solidarity with media houses and journalists and praises the media for performing its duty courageously even in the most difficult times.
\nIt also pays tribute to Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif\u2019s orders in response to Altaf Hussain\u2019s hate speech and lauds the efforts of Rangers and Sindh police in handling the situation and restoring peace in Karachi.
\nPTI leader, Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed, also submitted a resolution against MQM in Punjab Assembly on Tuesday. The resolution condemns the attack and the anti-Pakistan attitude of MQM chief and party workers.

Pakistan seeks Britain\u2019s help to bring MQM Chief to justice<\/strong><\/p>\n

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has contacted the British authorities and discussed the anti-Pakistan speeches of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief inciting mobs to carry out violent acts in Karachi.
\nPakistan\u2019s Interior Minister said that a British citizen using British soil against Pakistan\u2019s solidarity and security is condemn-able.
\n\u201cMQM chief, by issuing statements against Pakistan and state institutions, has not only hurt the nation as well as the Urdu speaking community,\u201d Nisar said.
\nThe interior minister demanded the British government to assist Pakistan in bringing the MQM chief to justice.INP repoted.
\nThe ramblings of the MQM chief against Pakistan and Pakistani institutions not only hurt and insulted the feelings of the entire Pakistani nation, and the Urdu speaking people in particular but also tantamount to commission of a grave crime, Nisar said.
\nNisar appealed to the British government to help Pakistan to bring back a person involved in such grave crime to Pakistan to bring him under the ambit of the law.
\nIt should be noted that MQM chief, in his speech on Monday, used derogatory language against Pakistan and its state institutions and incited the party workers to carry out violent acts.<\/p>\n

MPA Irum Farooqui leaves seat<\/strong><\/p>\n

KARACHI; Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) in Sindh Irum Azeem Farooqui on Monday resigned from her seat as well as the membership of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).INP repoted.
\nIrum Farooqui said that she believed in \u2018Pakistan Zindabad\u2019 (Long Live Pakistan) instead of \u2018Pakistan Murdabad\u2019 (Death to Pakistan).
\nIn her message on social networking website Twitter, Irum said that she had decided to resign two days earlier but didn\u2019t announce due to the hunger strike. She added that she felt ashamed after watching the video of MQM chief Altaf Hussain.
\nIrum Farooqui announced her resignation from MPA seat in Sindh Assembly and MQM\u2019s membership. Appealing MQM workers not to take law into their hands, Irum Farooqui said that violence was solution to nothing. She also condemned the attack on private TV channels.<\/p>\n

LHC moved for cancellation of MQM registration<\/strong><\/p>\n

LAHORE: Petition has been filed in Lahore High Court (LHC) seeking cancellation of MQM registration. INP repoted. The petition has been filed by a local lawyer taking the plea that MQM chief delivered speeches against Pakistan.
\nIt was further said in the petition that MQM was not a patriotic party and as per constitution it is binding on every political party that it must be loyal to Pakistan.
\nThe petitioner requested the court to issue orders for cancellation of MQM registration. Election Commission of Pakistan and interior ministry have been made respondents in the petition.<\/p>\n

Life normal in Karachi despite strike call by MQM<\/strong><\/p>\n

Karachi: Business and other activities remained as usual and vehicles plied the streets on Tuesday despite strike call by Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in the city.INP repoted.
\nBusiness activities also remained normal in Haiderabad, Mirpur Khas, Tandu Muhammad Khan, Jamshoro, Nawabshah and Sanghar.
\nCitizens continued with routine activities across Karachi. Police and Rangers were deployed at sensitive buildings. Rangers and Police patrolled the different areas of the city. Rangers arrested three persons including Amir Khan after cordoning off the surrounding area of Nine Zero. Rangers conducted search operation at MPA Hostel and Khursheed Begum Memorial Hall.
\nThe website of MQM has been also closed down after arrest of party leaders.<\/p>\n

MQM workers shouldn\u2019t be mistreated: Kamal<\/strong><\/p>\n

Karachi: Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) leader Mustafa Kamal on Tuesday said that federal and provincial government should not consider the people of Karachi orphan after rifts in MQM.
\nMustafa Kamal\u2019s press conference comes in the wake of MQM Pakistan distancing itself from anti-Pakistan statements made from party offices in London.
\nSpeaking to the media in Karachi, he said that MQM had an 85pc mandate of urban areas of Sindh.
\nPSP leader said that party workers should not be mistreated due to MQM chief\u2019s inflammatory speech.
