{"id":201712,"date":"2021-07-03T01:24:37","date_gmt":"2021-07-02T20:24:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=201712"},"modified":"2021-07-03T01:24:37","modified_gmt":"2021-07-02T20:24:37","slug":"consumer-court-moved-against-ssgc-over-pug-charges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/consumer-court-moved-against-ssgc-over-pug-charges\/","title":{"rendered":"Consumer court moved against SSGC over PUG charges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KARACHI<br \/>\nA citizen of Karachi on Friday moved a consumer court against the Sui Southern Gas Company\u2019s (SSGC) overcharging through Passing Unregistered Gas (PUG) charges in the bills.<br \/>\nThe applicant filed the plea in the Consumer Projection Court East, which was accepted by Judge Javed Ali Korejo.<br \/>\nThe citizen in his plea stated that the SSGC is overcharging under the name of PUG.<br \/>\n\u201cI was given a bill of Rs865 in the month of January with Rs527 PUG charges.\u201d<br \/>\nThe PUG charges are only slapped when the gas meter is out of order. He pleaded with the court to slap a fine over the SSGC and pass a ruling to return the money charged under the PUG.<br \/>\nIf the gas meter due to any technical reason whatsoever ceases or omits to regularly register the volume of natural gas supplied, the meter is said to be Passing Unregistered Gas (PUG).<br \/>\nThe company subsequently changes such gas meters and charges an estimated bill equivalent to three months\u2019 average consumption.<br \/>\nAnother type of PUG charges levied, are due to the slowness of the meter. In this case, the gas meter being a mechanical device ages out due to wear and tear.
