\nA two days long workshop on \u201cBuilding COVID-19 Community Resilience with Female Leaders\u201d concluded here at a local hotel on Wednesday. The workshop was organized by Accountability Lab Pakistan in collaboration with Department of Health, KP and Local Government and Rural Development Department (LG&RD), Haripur.
\nAdditional Director General Health Services Khyber Pakhtunkha Mr. Ikram Ullah Khan was the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the workshop. District Health Officer (DHO) Mr. Saifullah Khan Khalid among others also participated in this ceremony.
\nThe training workshop was part of the project supported by Direct Aid Program (DAP) of Australian High Commission and implemented by Accountability Lab Pakistan in collaboration with Department of Health, KP and LG&RDD, Haripur. The purpose of project is to build capacity of women leaders and members of local government and build community resilience to COVID 19 through dissemination of fact based information, awareness raising; debunking fake-news and myths around COVID-19.
\nSpeaking on the occasion, Mr. Saifullah Khan, DHO Haripur said that post covid issues are on the rise in our district. It is our collective responsibility to convince our family members, colleagues, relative and friends to get vaccinated for Coronavirus.
\nSpeaking on the occasion, Additional Director General Health Services Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Ikramullah Khan said that \u201cwomen represent more than 50 percent of Pakistan\u2019s population. Women are equally affected of COVID-19 issues as men. He further said that it\u2019s unfortunate that they are neglected and are not given equal opportunities.
\nSo far 1.9 million people have been vaccinated in KP for COVID19 vaccine out of which only 500,000 are the women\u201d. He further added that \u201cthere are a number of rumors spread in our society regarding COVID-19 and our health department is trying to clear the dust.
\nHe said that we have engaged many civil society organizations in this mission\u201d.
