{"id":201829,"date":"2021-07-04T07:22:05","date_gmt":"2021-07-04T02:22:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=201829"},"modified":"2021-07-04T07:22:05","modified_gmt":"2021-07-04T02:22:05","slug":"fia-serves-notice-on-ali-tareen-in-sugar-scandal-probe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/fia-serves-notice-on-ali-tareen-in-sugar-scandal-probe\/","title":{"rendered":"FIA serves notice on Ali Tareen in sugar scandal probe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD<br \/>\nThe Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has issued a show-cause notice to Ali Tareen, son of estranged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Tareen, seeking details of investments from his bank accounts during the sugar scandal probe.<br \/>\nAccording to sources privy to details, the younger Tareen has been served notice from the FIA, seeking details of his bank accounts, besides details regarding any loan acquired by him from family or any financial institution.<br \/>\n\u201cIn case of non-compliance of the FIA notice, the accounts and property of Ali Tareen would be frozen and confiscated,\u201d it said.<br \/>\nThe sources said that besides Ali Tareen, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz has also been served notice in a similar case.<br \/>\nIt is pertinent to mention here that on June 11, a banking court directed the FIA to give a seven-day notice to Jahangir Tareen before arresting him in the fake accounts case.<br \/>\nAdditional Sessions Judge Rafat Ali Gondal heard the case as Tareen turned up before him.<br \/>\nThe FIA deputy director informed the court that the agency doesn\u2019t need to arrest the PTI leader. It will give advance notice to the accused if such need arises, he added.<br \/>\nAt this, Tareen\u2019s lawyer requested the court to direct the FIA to inform his client at least ten days before arresting him.<br \/>\nAfter the FIA official\u2019s statement, the lawyer pleaded with the court to allow his client to withdraw his bail application.
