\nMinister for Defence Khurram Dastgir on Tuesday said that Pakistan has no \u2018safe haven\u2019 for terrorists on its soil, as he rejected the declaration naming terrorist groups in the region by leaders of member countries at the BRICS Summit in China on Monday.
\n\u201cWe reject the declaration released by member countries at the BRICS Summit,\u201d he said during a meeting of the National Assembly\u2019s Standing Committee on Defence.
\n\u201c40% of Afghanistan is a safe haven for terrorists,\u201d he said later while talking to the media.
\n\u201cPakistan has taken action against all groups on its soil and only the remnants of some are left,\u201d he added.
\nCiting a report by the US Inspector General for Afghan Reconstruction, Dastagir said of the 407 Afghan districts, only 57% are under their control.
\n\u201cThe foreign minister will consult regional partners and then proceed to the US,\u201d he said when asked of Pakistan\u2019s plan following US President Donald Trump\u2019s recent \u2018anti-Pakistan\u2019 comments.
\nThis will result in better engagement as we want to resolve all matters peacefully since any American action in Pakistan will cause instability, he added.
\nIn response to a question, the defence minister said strict surveillance is being conducted of Pakistan\u2019s ground, aerial and naval borders, adding that the country faces no danger of foreign aggression.
\nOn the humanitarian crisis facing Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, Dastgir said the issue is being reviewed and a policy will soon be announced on the matter.
\nThe minister further told that Pakistan\u2019s defence is in strong hands, and unnecessary threats are being raised after US President Donald Trump\u2019s statements against Pakistan.
\nDastgir stated that any wrong step of America can take this region towards instability. He also let it be known that Pakistan will soon clarify its policy regarding Rohingya.
\nMeanwhile the National Assembly Standing Committee on Defence which met today under the Chairmanship of Shaikh Rohale Asghar, MNA. Took strong exception and strongly condemns the hostile and threatening statement made by the US President Donald J. Trump and Gen John W. Nicholson the top US commander in Afghanistan against Pakistan.
\nIn a resolution, the Committee rejects the claim of the US president regarding Pakistan\u2019s safe haven for terrorists as 40% area of Afghanistan is not under the control of the Afghan Government. The Committee further rejected Trump\u2019s claim that billions of dollars in aid have been spent on Pakistan, stating that Pakistan\u2019s economy has suffered a loss of more than $123 billion in the war against terrorism.
\nThe Committee also strongly condemned the massacre of Burmese Muslims at the hands of the Myanmar Government and urged the United Nations and International Community to condemn the massacre of the Burma Muslims and play their role in preventing the atrocities of the Muslims of Burma.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
