\nFifty six students of State-run schools got ill when they were administered deworming medicine in the ongoing drive here in Landi Kotal on Monday.
\nThe health officials informed that the received 24 students of government primary school (GPS) Gagra and 30 students of government high school, Muhammad Kalley, Landi Kotal who reacted to the deworming dose feed to them in their respective institutions.
\nThe incharged teacher of the GPS, Gagra said that as per direction of the provincial government, they started feeding deworming tablets to the students of 5th grade of the school. However, after shortly, the students started vomiting and complained of abdominal pain and fever.
\nWith the help of Rescue 1122, they were immediately shifted to the emergency of headquarter hospital, Landi Kotal where they were provided necessary treatment, the teacher said.
\nFocal person for deworming Dr Muhammad Shinwari said that the deworming dose is recommended by the World Health Organization(WHO) for the children aging five years and cause of the reaction is that dose has been administered on empty stomach.
\nConditions of all students are stable and the parents should avoid rumour, he added and said like other parts of the province, a deworming campaign will continue in the area.
\nOn the other hand, the teacher community stopped the deworming drive and asked the health department to ensure the presence of doctors while feeding deworming tablets to the students to tackle any untoward situation.
\nIt is to be stated here that with aim to protect the health of all children in the province. over 7.8 million children in 22 different districts including Peshawar, Khyber, Mohmand, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Haripur, Torghar, Battagram, Malakand, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Upper and Lower Kohistan, Kolai-Palas, Lower and Upper Dir, Bajaur, Upper and Lower Chitral to be dewormed during the drive,began from today, on 18th of October and will continue until Oct 22,\u201d.
\nAll children enrolled in classes 1 to 10 in government and private schools, religious seminaries and out-of-school children between 5 to 14 years of age would be encouraged to access treatment at the nearby school on the deworming day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
