ISLAMABAD (Online): The Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) on Sunday lauded the government for its efforts to bridge gas between demand and supply of gas through LNG imports.
\nAccording to press release It asked the government to construct more terminals to hike import of LNG to reduced energy crisis which has compromised growth.
\nDespite difficulties, government is transforming national energy landscape and reviving power sector while salvaging dying CNG industry in Punjab, said Dr. Murtaza Mughal, President PEW.
\nHe said that the LNG development is the most important step by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to tame energy crisis, which trigger growth across Pakistan and in energy-starved Punjab.
\nHe said that government should also explore construction of pipelines in the private sector, expedite work on south-north pipeline, and establish new terminals.
\nDr. Murtaza Mughal said that summer LNG prices are already down due to oil prices; summer and oversupply therefore a transparent mechanism should be adopted for spot purchases.
\nHe said that oversupply has improved the bargaining position of buyers in the LNG market while sellers are on the weaker side which should be used in the national interests.
\nHe lashed out at the energy managers of the past government who used the crisis for personal benefits damaging national interests.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
