{"id":227680,"date":"2021-11-17T08:08:21","date_gmt":"2021-11-17T03:08:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=227680"},"modified":"2021-11-17T08:08:21","modified_gmt":"2021-11-17T03:08:21","slug":"lhc-upholds-rejection-of-pti-candidates-papers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/lhc-upholds-rejection-of-pti-candidates-papers\/","title":{"rendered":"LHC upholds rejection of PTI candidate\u2019s papers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> LAHORE<br \/>\nLahore High Court (LHC) Tuesday dismissed petitions of PTI candidate-nominate Jamsheed Iqbal Cheema and his covering candidate Mussarat Jamshed Cheema for NA-133 who have invoked the court jurisdiction against Returning Officer verdict on the rejection of their nomination papers acceptance.<br \/>\nA two-member bench of LHC headed by Justice Amir Farooq and comprising Justice Muzamil Akhter Shabir retained decision of Returning Officer (RO) who earlier rejected the nomination papers of Cheema and his covering candidate Musarat Cheema on the ground that his proposer did not belong to the constituency.<br \/>\nThe petitioners requested the court to nullify the order of the ECP\u2019s Punjab Chapter which rejected their nomination papers and requested that their nomination papers be accepted.<br \/>\nIt is pertinent to mention that two division benches of LHC earlier refused to hear the case and now the third bench that heard the case maintained the decision of RO. As per election laws, the proposer must be a resident of the constituency from where they are contesting the election.
