KP Speaker expresses displeasure over absence of legislators from assembly proceedings
\nPESHAWAR
\nThe Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly Monday unanimously passed \u2018the KP Waqf Properties (Amendment) Bill, 2021 to make effective framework for leasing out the waqf property and prevent its unauthorized occupation in order to generate maximum income from waqf property.
\nThe bill was moved by Minister for Auqaf, Hajj and Religious Affairs Zahoor Shakir, with Speaker Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani in the chair.
\nThe bill stated that the income collected from waqf property would be utilized for religious, pious and charitable purposes as recognized by Islam.
\nSimilarly, the House also unanimously passed \u2018the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincially Administered Tribal Areas Levies Force (Amendment) Bill, 2021 and tabled \u2018the KP Appointment of Law Officers (Amendment) Bill, 2021.
\nBoth the bills were moved by Minister for Labour Shaukat Ali Yousafzai.
\nLater, the chair adjourned the assembly proceedings till Friday 10am.
\nMeanwhile, Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani Monday expressed his displeasure and dissatisfaction over the absence of large number of legislators from the assembly proceedings.
\nChairing the proceedings of provincial assembly, Speaker Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani took notice of the absence of legislators and warned that cases of legislators having more than six absentees would be issued notice and the report would be sent to the Election Commission.
\nExpressing displeasure over the absence of legislators in the House, he said that it is our collective responsibility to keep the dignity of the House intact by regularly participating in the proceedings.
\nHe regretted that in the House of 145 members, only limited numbers of legislators were present which meant that majority legislators were not taking interest to attend the proceedings.
\nHe directed both treasury and opposition to ensure their presence well in time during proceedings, adding the assembly would be run according to rules.
\nKP assembly accept adjournment motion to discuss salary disparity issue
\nKhyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Monday accepted an adjournment motion moved by leader of the opposition Akram Khan Durrani for holding a debate on salary disparity between officers of the secretariat and attached departments.
\nThe adjournment motion said that KP government in the last budget announced executive allowance for the employees of provincial secretariat from grade 17 to 22.
\nSimilarly, incentives in the shape of technical allowance were also announced for local government, public health and other departments. He said that unfortunately employees of attached departments were still deprived from these incentives and their salary was not raised like the employees of secretariat.
\nHe said that their salary was raised only 20 percent due to which salary disparity between employees of the secretariat and attached department was increased.
