\nThe Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) have expressed grave concerns over increasing encroachments and demanded the departments concerned to remove illegal encroachments which were affecting their business. All major markets and Bazars of the city are facing encroachment and traffic congestion.
\nDue to traffic congestion customers have stopped coming to the shops for shopping. Business activities are severely affected.
\nAddressing a meeting of a delegation of businessmen led by representatives of Anjuman-e-Tajiran Sharjeel Mira and Chaudhry Iqbal, RCCI President Nadeem Rauf assured all kinds of support and reiterated that the Chamber will raise this issue to all the relevant stakeholders.
\nGroup leader Sohail Altaf, senior vice president Asim Malik, vice president Talat Awan, former presidents Dr Hassan Soroush, Abdul Rauf Chaudhry, executive members and a large number of representatives of various markets of the city were present on the occasion.
\nHe said that the chamber has taken up the matter with the district administration in a comprehensive manner to eliminate encroachments and reduce traffic congestion. He said that relocation of markets outside the city was the only way to reduce traffic congestion in the city. Ring Road and Leh Expressway are major development projects in the city. The Chairman RDA is expected to visit the Chamber next week for a presentation on Ring Road to the traders, he added.
\nGroup Leader Sohail Altaf said that Anjuman-e-Tajiran and the Chamber of Commerce are on one page to resolve the problems of the business community. The Chamber has raised its voice on every platform.
\nEarlier, Chaudhry Iqbal and Sharjeel Mir congratulated the officials of the chamber and said that businesses have been ruined due to encroachment and heavy traffic in the city. Raja Bazaar, Moti Bazaar, Commercial Market, Syedpur Road, Pirwudhai often face jam pack situations during shopping hours.
