\nThe chairperson of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on the Status of Women (KPCSW) has said that sexual harassment was a punishable crime, adding that government had enacted a uniformed to curb the menace of all kinds of harassment from the society.
\nShe said this while addressing a national seminar on the 16-day Activism Campaign to End Violence Against Women and Girls at the Northwest Institute of Health Sciences.
\nThe seminar was organized by the Northwest Institute of Health Sciences, in collaboration with the KPCSW organized a seminar on the status of women in connection with the 16-day Activism Campaign to End Violence Against Women and Girls.
\nOn this occasion Fauzia Shehzad, Director Higher Education Regulatory Authority (HERA), Dr Rafat Aziz, Senior Medical Officer Sugar Hospital, Rabia Basri MPAPTI, Nasreen Khattak, Dr Kaniz Fatima Member Commission, Jawadullah of Alternative Care Expert KP CPWC, Rukhsana Khalid, Principal Edex School, Chand Bibi Social Development Worker and Entrepreneur, Dr Rifat Sardar Chairperson KPCSW and Principal and North West Institute of Health Sciences Principal and prominent speakers.
\nThe speakers highlighted the growing trend of sexual harassment in education and other institutions.
\nThey asserted that there was a need for time to understand the relevant laws and to know the procedure for reporting such violations.
\nIt is the responsibility of the CEOs to ensure compliance with the Code of Conduct and to conduct ongoing awareness programs to reduce the incidence of sexual harassment in the organization.
\nSpeakers said that paramedics are more responsible for dealing with incidents of sexual harassment and child sexual abuse in hospitals so that the required medical care can be provided with dignity and respect.
\nAll the speakers emphasized that parents, teachers and institutions can play a positive role in creating good children, good students, good professionals and a good and secure society which is the only solution to end sexual violence.
