\nSafety at workplace against harramsnent is government priority, Rubab Mehdi Dir: A seminar was organized by Khwendo Kor (KK NGO) at the Government Degree College Wari Dir in connection with the 16-Days of Activism to End Violence Against Women. The event was organized by KK with the support of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on the Status of Women (KPCSW).
\nOn this occasion, Maryam Bibi, Chief Executive KK conveyed the message of Dr. Riffat Sardar, Chairperson KPCPSW. She said that the provincial government would never tolerate violence against women as it had enacted legislation to prevent it, violation of which will result in imprisonment of six months and a fine of up to Rs. 300,000.
\nThese punishments aim to end violence against women in society. She further stressed that the most important link for the prevention of violence against women is awareness of women about their rights. Unless a woman is aware of her rights, she will not consider violence against her as a crime.
\nFederal Ombudsperson Peshawar Region Commissioner Miss Rubab Mehdi said that providing a safe place to women in their offices is the responsibility of the government, the organization, as well as every honorable citizen.
\nNo one can acquit himself\/herself of this responsibility in any office or business place. If a woman is being harassed, it is the responsibility of each and every citizen to raise voice for her.
\nAsma Shaheen, a member of the District Women\u2019s Committee, while emphasizing awareness about women\u2019s rights said that in these 16 days, it must be conveyed to every citizen that violence against women is a disgraceful stain on our society, it can\u2019t be allowed.
\nMaulana Mufti Bakht Munir said that women have been given a very important place in Islam. Women have been given the status of mother and paradise has been placed under her feet.
\nAn example of such violence is not found anywhere in Islamic history. Razaullah, District Vice-President of Lawyer\u2019s Forum, said that the law on violence against women is clear and the law brought by the provincial government to end gender-based violence is very coherent.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
