Says Rana Shamim\u2019s name placed on PNIL \u2018so he doesn\u2019t run away\u2019

\nInterior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that Asia\u2019s first ever e-passport service will start in Pakistan in the beginning of the next year.
\nThe interior minister said this while addressing a ceremony on Wednesday to launch important initiatives by the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports.
\nThe initiatives included revamping the online passport facility, fast track delivery service at zonal offices, up-gradation of website of Director General of Immigration and Passports and inauguration of its official logo.
\nHe said that this online facility will enable people to get their passports at home without travelling and waiting in queues at passport offices. He said that the passport delivery service has been revamped and now one can get it within twenty four hours.
\nThe interior minister said an online facility is also being given for renunciation of citizenship and getting emergency travel documents. He said online passport service is being provided in 191 countries.
\nThe minister said ten million overseas Pakistanis across the world are happy with the government\u2019s initiative of EVMs and the government is fully focused to further facilitate them as per the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan. He said strict action will be taken against those Pakistanis having dual passports.
\nHe said two thousand police personnel will be recruited to strengthen Islamabad police force.
\nLater, talking to the media persons, Rashid announced that former chief justice of Gilgit-Baltistan Rana Shamim\u2019s name has been placed on the Provincial National Identification List (PNIL) \u201cso he doesn\u2019t run away\u201d. The minister said that there will be a meeting to determine if the former chief justice\u2019s name should be added to the Exit Control List (ECL).
\nThe interior minister further stated that former prime minister and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif cannot come to Pakistan, but if he wants to, he will have to provide documents relevant to his passport within 24 hours.
\nNawaz\u2019s passport expired earlier this year, and since he is on the ECL he cannot apply for a new one. \u201cIf he shows the intention to come to Pakistan, we can even have the documents delivered to his house,\u201d he said.
\nThe minister stated that special attention was being paid to the National Action Plan (NAP), which is aimed at taking result-oriented measures to counter terrorism in the country. \u201cI\u2019ve told NAP [officials] that you have to actively and strictly deal with those who are the basis of our country\u2019s disrepute in the world and the demoralisation of the police so that the country can escape this infamy,\u201d the interior minister said.
\nRashid added that regular updates would be provided to the nation on NAP as per the prime minister\u2019s instructions, to keep people briefed about developments. He further stated that he has ordered \u201cstrict action\u201d against those defaming the country.
\n\u201cI have ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to take action against major players,\u201d he said, referring to those responsible for the fluctuating prices of the US dollar and Pakistani rupee in the country.
\nThe minister also asked the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) to reschedule their rally from March 23 to March 30, claiming that the time given by them was in efforts to garner fame.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
