Islamabad High Court (IHC) has remarked grounds are there the affidavit from Rana Shamim, former chief judge Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) looks wrong and last chance is given to Rana Shamim to meet the ends of justice. <\/p>\n
IHC bench led by Chief Justice (CJ) Athar Minallah issued written order of its previous hearing in contempt of court case against former chief judge GB. <\/p>\n
The written order said name of such judge has come in the affidavit who was on leave in those days. Rana Shamim referred to July 15, 2018 talks. The three years long silence of Rana Shamim raises serious questions on his credibility. Prime facie no good intent is seen behind his affidavit at present.<\/p>\n
The order further said Rana Shamim said in his reply in clear terms that he had not given his affidavit to the news paper. Rana Shamim had tried to give impression that affidavit was leaked by notary public London. If it has been done so then it will leave grave effects on the news paper and notary public London. It has now become more urgent that Rana Shamim should present original affidavit. <\/p>\n
It may be recalled that a news item was published in the daily newspaper on November 16 with reference to former chief judge GB Rana Shamim. In the news item it was said Rana Shamim has given an affidavit that the then Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar had made a call wherein he had said that Nawaz Sharif and his daughter should not be allowed to come out of jail before next general elections.<\/p>\n
It was also said in affidavit former CJP Saqib Nisar had said this when he had gone to GB to spend vacation as chief justice and he had said this when he was taking tea along with Rana Shamim. <\/p>\n
