\nMore than 79,479 cops have been deployed for the security of local body elections across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) as a total of 9223 polling stations have been set up in 17 districts.
\nOf these, 2516 polling stations have been declared normal, 4200 sensitive and 2507 highly sensitive.
\nThis was revealed during a high level meeting about maintaining law and order situation chaired by Inspector General Police (IGP) Moazzam Jah Ansari here on Saturday.
\nAdditional IGP Investigation, DIG Headquarters, DIG Finance and Procurement, DIG Operations, AIG Operations and other senior police officials participated in the meeting.
\n DIG Operations briefed the participants over the security arrangements taken for peaceful local body elections in KP.
\n IGP Moazzam Jahan Ansari directed the participants of the meeting to ensure complete ban on display of arms \/ weapons during election and publication of hateful and objectionable material on wall chalking and riotous speeches at all costs.
\nAccelerate intelligence gathering and liaise closely with other law enforcement agencies to monitor threats to law and order, security threats and tensions between candidates and prevent any untoward incidents, he added.
\nHave a briefing session with the police personnel before sending them to election duty and brief them on their efficient and effective performance of their duties and focus only on security.
\nIdentity cards and mobile numbers of other government officials on election duty should be provided to the police and those who take the law into their own hands should be dealt with severely.
\nParticipants were also instructed to carry out proper logging of all wireless messages, forwarding every checking report and installing recording cameras in SHO and SDPO vehicles.
\nThey were also directed to provide the phone number of the control room to all and keep it operational day and night.
\nIG-KP directed the senior police officers on the occasion to ensure full implementation of the code of conduct issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
