{"id":233993,"date":"2021-12-21T09:24:19","date_gmt":"2021-12-21T04:24:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=233993"},"modified":"2021-12-21T09:24:19","modified_gmt":"2021-12-21T04:24:19","slug":"pm-advisor-shahukat-tarin-elected-as-senator-from-kp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/pm-advisor-shahukat-tarin-elected-as-senator-from-kp\/","title":{"rendered":"PM Advisor Shahukat Tarin elected as Senator from KP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tarin secured 87 votes, Nine vote invalid, one canceled<br \/>\n PESHAWAR<br \/>\nAdviser to the Prime Minister on Finance Shaukat Tarin on Monday elected as a Senator in the by-election for a general seat of the Senate from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).<br \/>\nMr Tarin secured 87 votes during the poll held at KP Assembly.<br \/>\nIn order to vacate a senate seat for Prime Minister Advisor, the ruling party senator Ayub Afridi had resigned from the Senate.<br \/>\nThe process of election for the senate seat started at 9am and ended at 4pm.<br \/>\n According to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) nine were declared invalid while one canceled. During the election, Awami National Party and Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam Fazal (JUI-F) candidates Shaukat Amirzada and Zahir Shah secured 13 votes each.<br \/>\n The election for the single seat of senate was conducted by the Election Commission of Pakistan in the provincial assembly.<br \/>\nIt should be noted that to get elected, a candidate needs more than 50% votes of the 145 members.
