Minister rejects notion on opposition\u2019s strength for unexpected results in LG polls

\nFederal Minister for Science and Technology Shibli Faraz said on Monday that they lost because their several workers were angry with them.
\nExpressing his views on his party\u2019s defeat on Monday, Shibli Faraz said that they will review loopholes in their party. \u201cResults of many polling stations are still pending. Inflation is also one of the reasons of our defeat but that is an international issue.\u201d
\nOn the other hand, KPK Deputy Speaker Mehmood Jan has held PTI lawmakers responsible for his defeat. \u201cThe people who won on symbol of the \u2018bat\u2019 did not support the party.\u201d
\nShibli rejected the impression that opposition was the reason behind the unexpected results for PTI during the Local Government Elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
\nTalking to media persons here the federal minister said that one should not infer at all that opposition was strong enough to have put a dent on PTI\u2019s popularity during the LG polls in KP, rather internal weaknesses had been the basic reason that PTI was not receiving expected results.
\nHe said all the matters with regard to LG elections would be reviewed on the party\u2019s level to identify shortcomings and remove them for next elections.
\nHe said the party would overcome the weaknesses identified by the first phase of local body elections, would make the party structure dynamic and strong at the grass root level and would further improve the party discipline.
\nIn this regard, Shibli Faraz said a committee had been set up to review all issues pertaining to local government elections and prepare its report on the basis of which the strategy for the next elections would be determined.
\nReplying to a question, Shibli Faraz said that PTI workers were the real asset of the party and they would be encouraged and their viewpoints would be given value.
\nShibli Faraz said less commotion was witnessed during the LG elections this time and these polls were held in a better atmosphere than in the past.
\nHe said that although not a single incident of violence should have taken place but since the local body elections were meant for the grassroots level, there was a high risk of violence and conflict.
