Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)\u2019s senator and senior politician Raza Rabbani asked Friday \u2018why the government was in haste to help Afghan Taliban when the latter were not respecting Pakistani border\u2019 referring to an incident where the new rulers in Afghanistan had reportedly barred Pakistan’s security forces from fencing the border.
\nAdressing the Senate session on Friday, Senator Raza Rabbani asked Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi to take parliament into confidence on the reported issue.
\nThe Senate of Pakistan on Friday passed a resolution condemning heinous murder of Sri Lankan manager at a Sialkot factory by an extremist mob, few weeks ago.
\nExpressing his views about the incident, PML-N\u2019s senator Azam Nazeer Tarar said extremist voices become louder once logic, acceptance are taken away from society. \u201cSuch [extremist] incidents surged during past three decades, after military dictator Zia-ul-Haq\u2019s era. Sialkot incident shook our existence\u201d Tarar said.
\n\u201cThe foremost responsibility of this house is to legislate and make laws that protect interests of poor and grilled class\u201d PML-N leader said.
\nHe said that political leadership of Pakistan needed to act seriously to protect mass\u2019s interests. \u201cUnfortunately, instead of eliminating such extremist thoughts and acts, we ignore them. Islam taught us to accept opposite view point, stay patient and pardon others\u201d he said.
\nFormer Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani expressed alarm over reports that the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was regrouping in Afghanistan, “which could possibly fuel terrorism in Pakistan”.
\n“They are not ready to recognise the border, so why are we moving forward?” questioned Rabbani, during the session Friday.
\nRabbani went on to say that Pakistani state promoted and planted \u2018ultra-right wing politics\u2019 since it came into being. \u201cWe used them to fulfill our political agendas, which created political instability\u201d Rabbani told Senate.
\nHe said that extremist organizations established a de-facto state inside the state and the authorities remained silent. \u201cWe are talking for the right of Afghan people but can the foreign minister tell us why Afghan forces barred Pakistani security forces from fencing the border?\u201d he asked, adding that \u201cPakistan could no more co-exist with secret pacts and agreements\u201d
