\nSenior Advisor Employers\u2019 Federation of Pakistan(EFP), Fasihul Karim Siddiqi, has said that discrepancy in provincial labour laws after the 18th amendment is likely to create uneven playing field for business enterprises leading to discriminatory treatment to employers and workers in different locations within the country.
\nAddressing an EFP membership campaign meeting organized by Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry, he said that the recent inequalities created by differing rates of minimum wages by Federal and Provincial Governments as well as arbitrary changes introduced in labour laws in Balochistan and litigations arising out of adverse interpretations of EOBI and SESSI laws are likely to create a new wave of unrest among Employers and workers.
\nThe meeting was also addressed by Haji Talib Hussain Rana, Executive Member of FCCI, Tariq Mahmood representing Sitara Chemical Industries and In-charge EFP Membership Campaign Faisalabad Siddiqi presented memento to the President, while Rana Fayyaz Ahmad, Vice President FCCI, presented a vote of thanks. The meeting was attended by owners and representatives of business enterprises as well as workers, government and civil society.
\nFasihul Karim said that in the fast-changing situation of industrial relations, it is inevitable for Employers throughout the country to forge unity and strengthen the Employers\u2019 organization to protect their interest and promote rapid industrialization in the country.
\nSiddiqi introduced a new Service Package being offered by EFP, which will greatly assist enterprises in playing their business leadership roles in order to meet the demands of innovativeness and business as unusual being the new norms of sustainable industrial growth.
\nAtif Muneer, President of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry, in his presidential address gave a wakeup call to the business community of Faisalabad to rise and respond to the fast-changing environment particularly in the areas of labour legislation, HR development, skill development and leadership competencies.
\nHe congratulated the Government of Punjab for introducing major changes in labour legislation and for initiating the process of simplifying the existing labour laws. He especially thanked Dr. Khurram Tariq and Shahid Ahmed Sheik for their contribution in working with the provincial government in improving the current labour legislation.
\nAtif commented that never before was there a need than now for the employers to become united in raising the collective voice for protecting their interest and moving the wheel of Industrial growth faster.
