\nOn the special instructions of RTO Peshawar Chief Commissioner Khurshid Ahmed Marwat, tax recovery efforts have been intensified in the entire region, which has resulted in record recovery.
\nSpeaking to media persons on the occasion, Dera Zone Commissioner Inland Revenue Irfan Aziz said that these funds were withdrawn from banks under Section 140 of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001.
\nHe said the money was owed for a long time. Taxpayers were given many opportunities but they did not follow the legal orders. As a result, the department was forced to attach their bank accounts and deposit the funds in the national treasury.
\nAccording to official data, in the last few weeks, Dera Zone has deposited Rs 48 million in the national kitty through bank account attachments. Malik Asfandyar Khan, Assistant Commissioner, Unit 37, Dera Ismail Khan, deposited Rs 17 million through bank account attachment. Wasimullah Khattak, Assistant Commissioner, Unit 38 Tank and Suburbs, deposited Rs 2.7 million through bank account attachment.
\nIqbal Noor Khattak, Assistant Commissioner, Unit 45, Kohat, deposited Rs26 million through bank account attachment. Javed Iqbal, Inland Revenue Officer, Unit 46, Hangu, deposited Rs7.9 million through bank account attachment.
\nAdditional Commissioner Inland Revenue Sultan Muhammad Nawaz Nasir while talking to media persons said that legal action could be taken against the defaulters in various ways including attachment of bank account, auction of defaulters\u2019 assets and non-payment of defaulters\u2019 detention.
\nTherefore, those who owe taxes should immediately deposit the money in the national treasury without waiting any longer. He commended the officers for their excellent performance in tax recovery and asked them to work harder with the same high spirit of patriotism.
