Says ecosystem\u2019s conservation must to protect future generations
\n ISLAMABAD
\nPrime Minister Imran Khan Tuesday said the government firmly believed in the rule of law and stressed that law should be applied equally to the elite as well as to the ordinary citizens. The prime minister was talking to a delegation of Insaf Lawyers Forum (ILF) that called on him. The delegation included additional secretary of PTI Aamir Mahmood Kiyani, chairman ILF Senator Ali Zafar, Naveed Sohail Malik, Fayyaz Ahmed Mehar, Qaisar Abbas Shah, Umair Niazi, Anees Hashmi and Neha Wasim. During the meeting, issues pertaining to ILF were discussed.
\nLater while speaking at an agreement signing ceremony held here between the Ministry of Climate Change and the World Bank for the launch of \u201cGreen Stimulus \u2013 Turning Concept into Reality\u201d, Prime Minister Imran Khan highlighting the importance of increased forestation and conservation of ecosystem in tackling the challenges of climate change urged the nation to play their role in protecting the country\u2019s environment for future generations. \u201cAs Pakistan, despite contributing less than 1% in world carbon emissions, is unfortunately among the 10 most vulnerable countries, it is very important for Pakistanis to think as a nation and protect our future generations,\u201d he stressed. Under the agreement, the World Bank was providing Rs. 22 billion of funds for 14 green initiatives across the country.
\nThe Prime Minister mentioned the present government\u2019s various initiatives including the 10 Billion Tree Tsunami, 15 National Parks, digital cadastral mapping to protect the existing forests etc. for tackling the negative effects of climate change such as rising temperatures and pollution.
\nPrime Minister Imran Khan said that with the melting glaciers, rising temperatures and less rains in rural and urban areas Pakistan was taking measures to tackle the challenges through Nature-based solutions. \u201cWe have to protect our existing forests, boost our tree plantation campaigns to enhance the forest cover and develop more national parks,\u201d he stressed.
\nMoreover, Prime Minister Imran Khan has banned foreign ambassadors from meeting the ministers without prior permission. A meeting of the federal cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan. The seven-point agenda including economic and political situation of the country was considered in the meeting.
\nAccording to sources, the prime minister directed that no ambassador would meet any minister without giving prior notice to the foreign ministry. Sources further said that the ambassadors will be able to meet the ministers after the clearance from the foreign ministry, while a representative of the foreign ministry would also be present in all such meetings. According to sources, Imran Khan said that the ministries should present the performance report of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the public.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
