Peshawar reports 26 new cases of Covid-19 in last 24 hours
\n PESHAWAR
\nAs the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has announced the fifth wave of Covid-19 in the country with a number of Omicron cases, the provincial government on Tuesday extended a public health emergency for three more months.
\nAccording to a notification issued by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) health department, a health emergency in the province has been extended for three months.
\nIt is pertinent to mention here that NCOC has directed all provinces to intensify their vaccination campaign in all districts to prevent the spread of Covid-19 disease and cope with the new variant of Omicron. Although KP has reported no case of the new variant so far but health department has initiated the process and alerted its health staff after a number of cases of Omicron reported in other parts of the country.
\n The KP health department on Tuesday said that during the last 24 hours, 39 confirmed cases of Covid-19 were reported across the province, out of which 26 were reported in Peshawar.
\n According to Covid-19 daily updates the total number of active cases had reached 593 and 175009 patients fully recovered in the province.
\nIn the recent 24 hours, two deaths have been reported in KP making the total deaths toll to 5935.
\nDaily updates added 9097 tests were conducted making a total of 3870577coronavirus tests in the province since the onset of the pandemic.
\nIt further said that 26 cases were reported in Peshawar, two in Mardan, two in Malakand, three in Kohat.
\nAccording to data shared by the NCOC, KP has vaccinated only 41 percent of its population against the Covid-19 so far.
\n However, the threat of Omicron has forced the provincial government to increase the percentage of fully vaccinated population in a short period of time as the positivity of the virus again surges across the country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
