\nLeader of the Opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has termed the mini-budget a fraud, adding a real hammer would be dropped on the nation through this.
\nIn a statement issued on Tuesday, he said, \u201cThe PTI took a traditional U-turn on the Rs350 billion mini-budget. If the common man\u2019s pockets are empty, then this budget is fake.\u201d
\n\u201cLast month witnessed the biggest trade deficit, while circular debt continued to rise exponentially,\u201d the PML-N president said, adding that, \u201cCircular debt has increased to a record Rs27 billion, which was Rs11 billion during our party\u2019s rule\u201d.
\n\u201cThe price for electricity has also been increased thrice [in their tenure], which has spelled the country\u2019s destruction,\u201d he deplored. \u201cThe fact is that this government has no control whatsoever over circular debt, dollar [rate], inflation, or the increasing unemployment in the country\u201d, he added.
\n\u201cSo, the question is what exactly they are capable of bringing under control?\u201d he asked and went on to call the government the \u201cmost incompetent, lethargic and \u2018manhoos\u2019 (wretched) in Pakistan\u2019s history.\u201d
\nShehbaz noted that the PTI finance minister had vowed that Prime Minister Imran would stand firm to the demands of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). \u201cThe fact is that the control of the country\u2019s economy has been handed over to the IMF,\u201d he maintained.
\nTop leaders of the two main opposition parties \u2013 Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan People\u2019s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto \u2013 have repeatedly lashed out at the government for its \u201cmini-budget\u201d.
