ISLAMABAD
\nPresident Dr Arif Alvi has said that the present government will provide a conducive environment to the business community.
\nTalking to a delegation of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday, the president said that efforts are afoot for promotion of the industrial sector in the country.
\nThe president said that the business community is playing a great role in the socio-economic development of the country, and serious efforts are being made to facilitate and support the business community. He appreciated the steps the government has taken to provide relief to the entrepreneurs in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic.
\nHe said that businesses should employ women and differently-abled people and should focus on improving their skills to empower them financially. He emphasised the need for facilitating differently-abled people by providing them easy access to buildings and workplaces.
\nHe said that the government is taking every possible measure to provide a level-playing field to the business community and entrepreneurs.
\nHe underlined that the business community needs to adopt an outward-looking approach and remain abreast of the changing trends in the international market, which would enable them to compete in regional and global markets.
\nHe highlighted that the main focus of the government\u2019s economic strategy is to boost exports, reduce trade deficit and support the underprivileged sections of society. The president said that the investment policy has been designed to provide a comprehensive framework for creating a conducive business environment and attracting foreign investors.
\nHe said that the ease of doing business reforms, initiated by the government, has improved Pakistan\u2019s ranking in the Ease of Doing Business Index from 136 to 108.
\nOn the occasion, the delegation apprised the meeting of its contribution to exports and providing employment to the people.
