KP detects 453 new cases of Coronavirus in last 24 hours

\nIn the view of rising cases of Covid-19 in the provincial capital, the University of Peshawar (UoP) announced vaccination mandatory for students, teachers and all other staff of varsity.
\nIn a statement issued by Dr Muhammad Idrees, vice-chancellor of the UoP, declared it mandatory for students and teachers in all departments of the university to follow the guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued by National Command Operation Center (NCOC).
\nHe also directed the chairmen of the departments to ensure the students are vaccinated and they follow the SOPs inside their classes.
\nIt is pertinent to mention here that IMSciences a major private sector university in Peshawar has ordered closing of classes and suspended all educational activities including scheduled examination due to Corornavirus cases among the students.
\nThe Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) health department on Thursday confirmed 52 more cases of the new Covid-19 variant, Omicron. The reports said that out of 52 cases, 22 cases were confirmed from Peshawar while 16 were reported from Mardan, three from Nowshera, two from Bannu, one each from Karak, Swat and Mohmand.
\nOut of 44 patients, 29 are men and 15 women. With the new case, the total number of Omicron cases in the province has risen to 189.
\nMoreover, KP also reported 453 new cases of Coronavirus, while one person died due virus complications in the province. The total tally of active Covid-19 cases in the province surged to 1833. The health department in its report said that a total of 45 patients recovered from the virus infection. With the new recoveries tally of total recovery reached to 175602. So far a total 5968 people succumbed to Covid-19 in KP.
\nIt is pertinent to mention here that KP government has decided to keep the schools remain open in the province as so far Coronavirus positivity remain very low and its recorded around one percent.
\nHealth department report said that the province has recorded around 2.7 percent virus positivity and Peshawar has recorded nearly 10 percent, however schools are safe from the infection and ruled out possibility of their closing in this stage.
\nHealth officials said that it was decided in the meeting of NCOC that educational activities would be continued as far as the positivity stayed below 10 percent. Schools would be closed in case of 10 percent positivity.
\nThe NCOC has also decided for over 12-year-old students to attend schools with mandatory vaccination. The NCOC decided that the cities with more than 10% positive ratio, no indoor gatherings will be allowed in wedding halls while outdoor gatherings will be limited to 300 individuals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
