This was stated by the Army Chief during his meeting with Legendary English footballer Michael Owen who met him on Tuesday.<br \/>\nAccording to a tweet of Directorate General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) the COAS thanked the former English footballer for visiting Pakistan and promoting sports specifically football.<br \/>\nSpeaking on the occasion the COAS said, \u201cSports promote peace and this initiative for developing football infrastructure and young talent in Pakistan is a welcome step\u201d. Earlier today, the former footballer had arrived in Islamabad on a three-day tour.<br \/>\nAs per the schedule, he will brief Prime Minister Imran Khan on a roadmap to develop football in Pakistan. In collaboration with Global Soccer Ventures (GSV), the former Liverpool International s tour is set to spark a new era of football in the country.<br \/>\nMichael will meet also meet Special Assistant to Prime Minster (SAPM) Usman Dar to discuss GSV s football reform plan for Pakistan. Moreover, the English football legend Michael Owen will address a press conference at NED University to officially lay the groundwork for Pakistan s first soccer city on January 26.<br \/>\nIt is pertinent to mention here that Michael stated earlier that, \u201cI am really excited to be at the helm of Pakistan\u2019s largest football transformation program and delighted to be discharged with the responsibility to take football to a whole new level in Pakistan\u201d.<br \/>\n\u201cThere is not much to say when England s pride and joy takes the helm of efforts to revive football in Pakistan,\u201d Zabe Khan, CEO of GSV said. He added, \u201cMichael has been a devoted servant to Liverpool, and his devotion and loyalty to Pakistan s football success appear unwavering\u201d.<br \/>\n\u201cIt is a great honour for Pakistan to welcome Michael Owen to a country which needs a professional direction with football.
