\nThe Bulgarian Ambassador to Pakistan Irena Gancheva praised the remarkable progress made by Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar in various academic and research fields in a short span of 15 years and expressed her desire to collaborate with KMU in various academic and research programs.
\nShe exchanged these views with the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq, during her visit to KMU.
\nBesides others, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Lal Muhammad Khattak, Registrar Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Gandapur, deans, and heads of various departments were also present at the occasion.
\nBulgarian Ambassador Irena Gancheva said she was delighted to learn that KMU is the sole medical university in the province which, through its outstanding academic and research activities, has in a short span of 15 years not only domestically but also internationally earned a good name and reputation.
\nShe said that medical institutes are of special importance in serving the suffering humanity and prestigious medical universities like KMU could play a vital role in addressing the health-related challenges faced by society.
\nIrena Gancheva said that there is a huge potential for interaction and cooperation between KMU and Bulgarian medical universities in various fields in addition to exchanging students and faculty.
\nShe said that KMU and Bulgarian universities could collaborate on Ph.D and master\u2019s programs as well as some short-term joint courses.
\nShe said that Bulgaria is much cheaper than other European countries where there are vast opportunities for students of Pakistan especially Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to pursue higher education.
\nBulgarian Ambassador Irena Gancheva also visited the KMU vaccination center and the Public Health Reference Lab.
\nShe appreciated the facilities provided there and said that the service rendered by KMU to the society in the form of knowledge and research as well as CoVid vaccination and PHRL is unforgettable and exemplary for other universities.
\n\u201cI would like to come to the KMU vaccination center for my booster dose and I expect that KMU will continue its all-around services with the same enthusiasm\u201d she stated.
