\nA grand Charsadda Sports Festival carrying more than 3000 male and female players in 10 male and 9 female disciplines with a Games slogan \u201cKhailoon Ke Rang, Charsadda Ka Sang\u201d got under way at Abdul Wali Khan Sports Complex on Friday.
\nKhyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Fazal Shakur Khan, who was the chief guest on this occasion, formally inaugurated the Games in a colourful ceremony by cutting the ribbon. More than 3000 players taking part in 10 male Games and 09 female Games were also present during the opening ceremony. Vice Chancellor Bacha Khan University Charsadda Prof. Dr. Bashir Ahmad, Ex-international athlete and Assistant Director Sports Bacha Khan University Charsadda Shabana Akhtar, Deputy Commissioner Charsadda Sadaat Hassan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Akhtar Nawaz, Additional Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Shah, DSP Shah Jahan Gohar, and District Sports Officer Charsadda Tehseenullah, Administrator Imran Khan also attended the ceremony.
\nAccording to details, Charsadda Sports Festival 2022 organized by District Sports Office and District Administration Charsadda was held at Abdul Wali Khan Sports Complex Charsadda. The festival includes Men\u2019s athletics, badminton, basketball, football, squash, table tennis, hockey, throw ball, tug-of-war and volleyball while women\u2019s would take part in athletics, badminton, hockey, netball, squash, table tennis, throw ball, volleyball.
\nHowever, the men\u2019s competitions will continue up till February 7, while the women\u2019s games will be held from February 9-11.
\nSpeaking at the ceremony, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Fazal Shakur Khan, said that holding such healthy activities would not only help the existing talent to come forward but it would also bring out new talent which would make Pakistan famous at National and International levels.
\nHe said, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan is taking special interest and directed the sports department to hold maximum sporting activities by involving the youth of all districts in healthy sports activities. He said steps have been taken by the government to provide international standard sporting facilities and that international standards facilities are being constructed all across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
\nEarlier, District Sports Officer (DSO) Charsadda Tahseenullah while welcoming the guests and players said that the purpose of the Sports Festival was to be organized with the collaboration of District Administration, DSO and Directorate General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
\nHe also thanked DC Charsadda, Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Khalid Khan for extending all out support to him for the smooth conduct of the Festival, separately for male and female athletes in different dates.
\nDG Sports and Deputy Commissioner Charsadda are very keen in providing a healthy environment to the players as well as hone their skills. \u201cWe are trying our best to encourage the athletes and provide maximum opportunities for them to come forward so that they can go ahead and make the country and the nation famous,\u201d he said. He assured that all resources would be utilized to ensure best available facilities to the players during the Festival.
\nEarlier, during the opening ceremony in the Tug of War contest, Tangi, Charsadda defeated ICMS team by 2-1 in a thrilling event. A Gymnastic and Martial Arts demonstration by boys and girls students from New Muslim School, Peace School and College and Sparrow Grammar School took part which largely appreciated by the sitting spectators.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
