Says opposition holding meetings because they are \u2018afraid of Imran Khan\u2019
\n FAISALABAD
\nPrime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday launched the Sehat Insaf Card in Faisalabad and said Pakistan\u2019s doctor-population ratio was among the worst in the world.
\nAccording to the prime minister, the issuance of health cards was one of the first steps towards making Pakistan an Islamic welfare state and added that it was not easy for Punjab to allocate Rs400 billion out of its budget for the universal health care scheme.
\nIn a criticism of the former rulers, he said the people who were responsible for providing health care to the nation were themselves relying on medical treatment in foreign countries. They failed to uplift the health sector, he said, adding that there was a shortage of government-run hospitals in Pakistan.
\nThe district-level hospitals have a shortage of staff which forced the people to seek treatment at divisional level hospitals, he said and added that the \u201chealth sector did not deteriorate overnight\u201d.
\n\u201cDue to the discriminatory policies of the previous governments, two Pakistans were created \u2013 one for the rich and one for the poor.\u201d
\nHe also criticised Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari for refusing to implement the health card scheme in Sindh.
\nImran said the PPP government did not realise in what conditions the people of rural Sindh were living in, adding that the former president, Asif Ali Zardari, was buying off politicians with \u201cstolen wealth\u201d.
\nAccording to Imran, he only joined politics to rid the country of these two \u201ccorrupt families\u201d as Pakistan has no future till \u201cthese people are in power\u201d. He said the rule of law and a welfare state were the only ways that Pakistan could progress, adding that some lawyers, however, wanted former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who \u201clooted\u201d the country, back in power.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey want the lifetime ban on him revoked so that he can return to power and plunder it again,\u201d the PM said, adding that states are not destroyed with bombs but making crimes like corruption acceptable.<\/p>\n
The premier also commented on recent contacts between the opposition parties, saying they were holding meetings because they \u201care afraid of Imran Khan\u201d. \u201cThey know I will put them in jail eventually,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
According to the premier, the \u201cjudges were not hearing their cases, adjourning them to later dates\u2026but their cases will be eventually heard and they will be sent to jail.\u201d <\/p>\n
\u201cThe real battle of Pakistan is to implement the rule of war,\u201d Imran said, adding that corruption is one of the symptoms of the absence of the rule of law. He further said the development of Pakistan and rule of law were interlinked, adding that the government will put an end to all types of mafias and bring them within the ambit of the law.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
