\nCity Traffic Police has formed a force of more than 100 volunteers, including students, to educate the citizens about traffic rules in the provincial capital, said a handout.
\nIn this connection, a function was held at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Line here on Thursday.
\nProvincial Minister for Health and Finance Timur Saleem Jhagra, Provincial Minister for Higher Education Kamran Khan Bangash, Chief Capital Police Abbas Ahsan, DIG Traffic Humayun Bashir Tarar, Chief Traffic Officer Abbas Majeed Khan Marwat, SSP Operations Haroon Rasheed and other senior officials attended the function.
\nMeanwhile, provincial ministers, district police and traffic police officials distributed shirts among the members of the volunteer force.
\nChief Traffic Officer Abbas Majeed Khan Marwat informed that the members of the volunteer force would be trained in regular training sessions on traffic rules, after which they would inform the citizens about traffic rules along with traffic education teams on major highways of Peshawar.
\nAll capabilities would be utilized to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the city and provide transport facilities to the citizens he added.
\nHe said that the purpose of forming volunteer force was to draw the attention of the people and especially the youth towards traffic laws so that the citizens would enforce the traffic laws as success in any endeavor is not possible without public cooperation.
\nAddressing the function, Provincial Minister for Health and Finance Timur Saleem Jhagra said that formation of volunteer force by City Traffic Police Peshawar is a good initiative which is appreciated.
\nCitizens will respect the traffic rules which will have a good effect on the direct traffic system, for which I pay tribute to the efforts of City Traffic Police Peshawar for smooth flow of traffic.
\nHe said that a regular committee has been constituted by the provincial government to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the city to provide transport facilities to the citizens.
\nProvincial Minister for Higher Education Kamran Bangash further said that the government was taking practical steps to improve the traffic system, a clear example of which was the formation of a special committee to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the city.
\nHe said that just like in developed countries regular traffic flow is ensured and awareness about traffic rules is also given to the citizens in the provincial capital Peshawar and it is hoped that citizens will take care of lane line discipline and others. Traffic rules such as seat belts, helmets, speeding and other rules will be enforced.
\nProvincial Minister for Health and Finance Timur Saleem Jhagra and Minister for Higher Education Kamran Khan Bangash also distributed education kits, bags, special jackets and gift hampers to traffic volunteers on the occasion.
\nAt the end of the ceremony, CCPO Abbas Ahsan and Chief Traffic Officer Abbas Majeed Khan Marwat also presented special shields to special guests Timur Saleem Jhagra and Kamran Bangash.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
