\nThe health department busted a fake medicine factory located on the Dalazak road here on Tuesday.
\nThe drug control and pharmacy services team of the health department sealed the factory and arrested its owner.
\nThe KP health department said that the factory was set in a house and allegedly involved in manufacturing counterfeit brands of all multinational medicines available in the markets.
\nDrug inspector Khushal Khan claimed that the unit has been sealed and samples from the seized medicine stock would be sent for lab examination. It is pertinent to mention here that the KP health department has intensified operations against the hoarded and fake medicines units in the province.
\nEarlier a week, the health department had seized a huge quantity of Panadol tablets worth Rs50 million during raids on two warehouses in Peshawar.
\nHealth and Finance Minister Timur Saleem Jhagra has directed the officials of drug control and pharmacy services KP for more operations against fake medicine manufacturers and those involved in hoarding medicines to create artificial shortage.
\nHe said this while sharing remarks on the annual review report of drug control and pharmacy services.
\nTimur Jhagra said that the availability of drugs in the market was the responsibility of the health department and drug inspectors should increase their capacity to curb the sale of drugs in blake.
\nAccording to the report submitted to the Minister of Health, 14803 inspections of distribution centers and medical stores were carried out during the last one year while stocks of 2449 medicines were seized for violating the rules.
\nThe report stated that more than 10,000 samples of medicines had been sent for lab testing of which 460 medicines were declared as substandard, counterfeit, unregistered and miss branding.
\nIt further shared that 375 medical stores have been sealed for violating the rules while 35 FIRs were registered during various operations.
\nSimilarly, 2156 cases have been referred to the Provincial Quality Control Board for further action.
\nThe Drug Court disposed of 488 cases while hearing of 439 cases was started. The drug court also imposed fines worth Rs 12 million, including imprisonment, in various cases<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
