\nThe Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) has welcomed the Prime Minister Imran Khan\u2019s concern voiced over losses caused by dearth of dams and urged the government to allocate adequate funds for construction of much-needed reservoirs in the Federal Budget 2022-23.
\nPresident of the LCCI Mian Rehman Aziz Chan has said, Water shortage is one of the biggest reasons of electricity shortage at the one hand while raising food security challenges on the other. TO overcome with such circumstances, Pakistan needs to build new dams in order to produce cheap and sufficient electricity and avert the threat of food security\u201d.
\nMian Rehman added, Kalabagh dam and other similar projects need to be built as soon as possible, as rising population graph can give birth to severe food security challenges in near future. It is a matter of concern that millions hectors of fertile land is not being cultivated due to unavailability of water. These projects will ultimately help nation to fertile their lands.
\nHe mentioned, Kalabagh dam is a must to control the poverty & hunger and those who were opposing the KBD were enemies of this country as they were playing with the country\u2018s future.
\nPakistan economy is an agrarian economy, and without water resources, it cannot afford the waste of water. We are already suffering and further delay in the construction of dams would hit us hard, President LCCI maintained.
\nAccording to a conservative estimate over 30 million acre feet of water is being wasted into the sea because the country has no big water reservoirs to store it, he held.
\nMian Rehman Chan was well intended that current Prime Minister have been pointed out water deficiency issues and we hoped that government will allocate funds to build new water reservoirs to generate cheap and sufficient energy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
