\nThe security forces on Sunday conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) on the reported presence of terrorists in North Waziristan and killed five terrorists.
\nAccording to Inter-Services Public Relation (ISPR), wanted terrorists including Habib Nawaz alias Shakil, Waheedullah, Abdur Rehman, and Muhammad Ullah were killed in the operation. The identification of the fifth terrorist is being investigated, it added.
\n\u201cWeapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed terrorists including sub-machine guns, hand grenades and large quantity of multiple calibre rounds,\u201d the statement added.
\nThe military\u2019s media wing further said that the terrorists were involved in activities against security forces including target killing and kidnapping for ransom.
\nSepoy Shabbir Ahmed, a 28-year-old resident of Quetta, fought gallantly and inflicting casualties upon the terrorists, embraced martyrdom during an intense firefight, it said. \u201cPakistan Army is determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,\u201d the ISPR maintained.
\nEarlier this month, the security forces conducted an IBO in the district on reports of a terrorists\u2019 hideout in the Ghulam Khan Khel area. According to the ISPR, during the search of the area, a large quantity of weapons, ammunition and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were recovered from the hideout.
\nOn January 18, two terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire during an IBO in the Thal area of the district. \u201cSecurity forces conducted an intelligence-based operation on the reported presence of terrorists,\u201d the ISPR said in a statement issued this evening.
\n\u201cDuring intense exchange of fire, two terrorists, Ghayoor and Bahauddin got killed,\u201d it added. \u201cA large number of weapons and ammunition was also recovered from the terrorists.\u201d
