\nPoets, writers, academia, historians, and journalists assembled at the historical site of Makli necropolis on Monday in Thatta to participate in a rally taken out to observe international Mother language day.
\nThe rally reached the National Press Club Thatta where an event to highlight the importance of the Mother language was held under the omen of Sindhi Adabi Sangat where speakers demanded National language status for the Sindhi language.
\nAddressing the event Secretary-General Sindhi Adabi Sangat Thatta Muhammad Ramzan Memon said that languages were the real identity of communities and communities together formed societies adding that the young generation should be apprised of the importance of mother language.
\nHistorian Noor Khushik Sarahi said that the importance of the mother language was still intact even in the epoch of technology and we as a nation should play our part in promoting all the languages local as well as regional spoken across the country.
\nSenior Journalist Mahboob Brohi said that private schools should also take the plunge of teaching Sindhi language for securing its future and added that parents should also play their part in this regard.
\nHistorian Safdar Thattvi highlighted the historical background of the Sindh language and mentioned that it was among the ancient languages of the world that gave birth to the iconic Indus valley civilization. \u201c Keeping in view to the distinct stature of Sindh language it should be awarded the status of the national language\u201d; Thattvi demanded.
\nChairman Sindhi Language Authority Dr. Muhammad Ali Manjhi when approached for comments said that; the authority was playing an important role in promoting Sindhi and teaching it with modern techniques. Training workshops were being organized in this regard, he said.
\nDifferent events were held across the two districts Thatta and Sujawal where participants raised slogans in favor of awarding Sindhi the status of the national language.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
