\nPESHAWAR
\nA memorandum of understanding was signed here on Wednesday between the University of Peshawar (UoP) and Capital City Police for sharing qualified human resources and providing internship opportunities to students. CCPO Abbas Ahsan and Vice-Chancellor professor Muhammad Idress signed the accord at a ceremony held in UoP.
\nCapital City Police Abbas Ahsan, Commandant Campus Police Muhammad Hussain, Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar Prof Muhammad Idrees, Director Community Service Program Dr Shakeel Ahmed, Focal Person Social Work Dr Imran Ahmed Sajid, Registrar University of Peshawar.
\nThe agreement was made under point 16 of United Nations (UN) Vision 2030, which aims to make institutions purposeful, effective, transparent and inclusive.
\nThe Vice Chancellor of the UoP, Prof Muhammad Idrees, said that the initiative taken by the Peshawar Police in strengthening the relationship between the students and the police in collaboration with the Department of Social Work and Community Service Program of the University.
\nThe Vice Chancellor also reiterated his commitment that the University of Peshawar, along with its students and faculty members, would do its utmost to provide whatever services are required by the Peshawar Police.
\nOn the occasion, CCPO Abbas Ahsan said that the UoP is the oldest institution in the province and that the graduates of this university are rendering their services in every institution of Pakistan.
\nHe further said that since the police are usually associated with criminals which leads to a certain kind of mood, this coordination of the police with the students and teachers of the University has improved the system and mood of the police.
\nDr Shakeel Ahmed, Director Community Service Program, appreciated the efforts of Muhammad Hussain, Commandant Campus Police and said that due to Commandant Campus Police, the students and teachers of the University of Peshawar have got an opportunity to work with the community and community.
\nshould be noted that under the internship program, students will work in different police stations for six weeks while this agreement is for three years.
\nThe Social Work Department will be followed by the Student Societies and the Psychology Department, which will help bridge the gap between the police and the public and enable the students to gain an understanding of policing.
\nCCPO Abbas Ahsan clarified that the program would further bridge the gap between the police and the community, adding that initially 30 students from the social work department would be provided internships.
\nThe CCPO said that the main objective of the MoU was to engage the community which would help in further improving community relations including policing and general performance of the police.
\nHe clarified that in the next phase, students of Social Work Department as well as Student Societies, Psychology Department will also be included.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
