Asks BMP to ensure speedy provision of justice to bank customers
\n ISLAMABAD
\nPresident Dr Arif Alvi has said that Pakistan wants to further enhance bilateral cooperation with the United States in various fields, particularly in the areas of trade and economy.
\nThe president made these remarks during a meeting with the Ambassador-designate of Pakistan to the US Sardar Masood Khan, who called on him on Thursday.
\nThe president said that the IT sector of the country has immense potential and foreign investors need to capitalise upon the investment-friendly environment of the country and invest in Pakistan\u2019s IT sector. He stated that the government is focusing on the geo-economics and there is a need to explore further areas of cooperation to enhance bilateral trade and foreign direct investment (FDI) from the USA.
\nHe said that the Pakistani diaspora in America has the potential to serve as a bridge to increase bilateral economic and commercial relations, in addition to investing in various sectors of Pakistan\u2019s economy, particularly the IT sector. The president asked the ambassador-designate to expose the real face of India which is involved in gross human rights violations against the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir.
\nThe president congratulated Masood on his appointment as ambassador of Pakistan to the USA and expressed the hope that he would play his role in further improving bilateral relationships with the USA.
\nMeanwhile, the Banking Mohtasib of Pakistan (BMP) Muhammad Kamran Shehzad called on President Alvi and presented the annual report 2021 to him.
\nThe Mohtasib briefed the president about the performance and achievements of his organisation. He informed that BMP has provided relief worth Rs709 million to account holders in over 37,000 cases related to banking frauds during last year.
\nThe president expressed satisfaction over the performance of BMP and emphasised the need for the implementation of the decisions of the mohtasib to ensure the provision of speedy provision of justice to bank customers.
\nAppreciating the performance of BMP, the president said that the institution of Banking Mohtasib was playing a valuable role in providing inexpensive and expeditious justice to victims of bank fraud, particularly in cases involving electronic funds transfer scams.
\nHe underlined the need to create awareness through media about the services being provided by the Banking Mohtasib so that the maximum number of people could benefit from its services against the maladministration of bank officials.
