Kalvari class Indian submarine detected on March 1, ISPR says; recent incident is fourth detection in last 5 years

\nPakistan Navy intercepted and tracked the latest Kalvari class Indian submarine off the Pakistani coast and prevented it from entering its waters, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.
\nThis is the fourth time Pakistan has said it had foiled an attempt by an Indian vessel to enter its waters, the ISPR said. \u201cIndian Navy deployed its submarine against Pakistan with ulterior motives,\u201d the ISPR said. \u201cHowever, yet again through continuous vigilance and professionalism the Pakistan Navy has foiled an Indian Submarine\u2019s attempt to enter Pakistani waters.\u201d
\nThe recent incident is a reflection of the Pakistan Navy\u2019s competence and resolve to defend the maritime frontiers of Pakistan, the ISPR said.
\nThe statement said Pakistan had anticipated the possibility of an Indian unit trying to enter Pakistan waters for reconnaissance and information gathering \u201cduring prevailing security environment and ongoing Pakistan Navy Exercise SEASPARK-22.\u201d
\n\u201cTherefore, strict monitoring watch and stringent vigilance procedures were enforced. Resultantly, Pakistan Navy Anti-submarine warfare unit took the lead and prematurely intercepted and tracked the latest Indian submarine Kalvari on 01 March 2022,\u201d ISPR said.
\nLast year in October, the Pakistan Navy had thwarted an attempt by an Indian submarine to enter into Pakistani waters. The incident took place on October 16, confirmed the ISPR, adding that the Indian naval submarine had been prematurely detected and tracked by the PN Long Range Maritime Patrol Aircraft.
