\nThe Strengthening Participatory Organization (SPO), a rights-based civil society group, on Thursday organized a training workshop \u201cClimate Changes, Food Security, Climate Change Mitigation & Adaptation Strategies, DRR and Climate Action\u201d.
\nThe overall aim of the workshop was to gather valuable feedback from the selected participants on their contributions toward climate actions.
\nStudents from academia, household women, representatives from government line departments, and media persons attended the workshop.
\nThe participants during the course of different sessions participated in various interactive activities including presentation, group discussions, charts writing, and question-answer.
\nThey shared their experiences, ideas and actions to minimize the threats posed by environmental degradation.
\nMs Shazia Sardar, master trainer, informed about the hazardous impacts of the climatic changes. She shed light over the human activities that cause harm to living and non living things, adding that pragmatic actions are needed to save our planet for ourselves and the coming generations.
\nIn order to address climate-related disasters such as floods, droughts, cyclones and storms, local communities should play their role, she added.
\nThe participants through engaging activities learned about the best information at hand about the urgent challenges of climate change and they pledged to work together on climate actions.
\nThe master trainer briefed about the consequences of global warming that affected human day to day life and had very negative impacts on our food and water.
\n\u201cSocieties across the globe faced with food and water insecurities, timely steps are needed to protect our land from destruction,\u201d she added.
\nShe highlighted the significance of local communities and other stockholders in mitigating the impacts of environmental degradation and scientifically proven methods of adaptations.
\nDuring the course of activities participants emphasized that the goal of a human friendly environment could not be set without involvement of provincial government departments, academia and the private sector.
\nFazil Ghafoor, program officer-research at SPO also moderated a session and stated that participants of the workshop should come forward and play their due role in mobilizing and sensitizing people regarding climatic changes.
\nMs Shazia also shared an informative short documentary about climate change impacts on different societies in Europe, America, Asia, Africa and other regions of the world.
