\nIn an historical event Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication (MOITT) Syed Amin-Ul-Haque inaugurated Virtual University of Pakistan\u2019s Orangi Town Campus on Monday in Karachi.
\nIt is first Government University\u2019s Campus in the Orangi Town. The Virtual University (VU) of Pakistan is the first public sector ICT-based University with more than 130 thousands students, which is working Under the Ministry of IT & Telecom.
\nChief Guest Federal IT Minister Syed Amin-Ul-Haque Congratulated Virtual University and the people of Karachi on establishing the campus of a University that is offering world-class education. He said that this campus will brought revolutionary changes in the life of residents of Orangi town through world class education facilities and Master\u2019s degrees in five different fields will be awarded at Virtual University Orangi Town Campus.
\nSyed Amin-Ul-Haque revealed that, Administrator Karachi Mr. Murtaza Wahab was requested to provide a building in Orangi Town for Virtual University and he complied with our request on emergency basis.
\nHe said, MQM Pakistan had promised the residents of Orangi that they would not have to go abroad for higher education, hopefully the people of Orangi will eat less bread but now they will definitely give higher education to their child, if Orangi develops through education, then this city will also develop Karachi and the province.
\nProviding basic amenities like clean drinking water and road construction for not only in Orangi Town even for whole city, is the mission and purpose of MQM Pakistan.
\nIT Minister urged Administrator Karachi to hand over the ruined schools of Orangi to us, MQM Pakistan will turn into state of the art schools and we will provide the required funds ourselves.
\n\u201cEach passing day a new technology is coming and we will have to equip our children with the latest and emerging technologies\u201d, said Amin-Ul-Haque.
\nHe said that, as per party manifesto and directives by the Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, all decisions in the ministry are being made on merit and in a transparent manner while Corruption in the ministry is zero percent. The impression was; that MQM Pakistan\u2019s IT ministers would not promote IT in Sindh, on the contrary, we have launched and completed most of its projects in Sindh, I assure you, a revolution is coming from the Sindh Digital Project.
\nSyed Amin-Ul-Haque further said that the Education and training play a pivotal role in shaping a better society. Hopefully, this campus of Orangi Town will be a milestone in the path of modern education in the region.
\nThe MQM and its workers are known as an educated and conscious party. We are committed that the poor and the middle class should have the same standard of education as the elite class, so that they too can play their full role in the development of the country and the nation.
\nHighlighting the core achievements of the University, Syed Amin-Ul-Haque said the VU has produced 2.4 Million freelancers\/IT Professionals through DigiSkills training program, which enabled Pakistan to earn massive revenue and helped to enhance international ranking in freelance industry.
\nAddressing the event; Administrator Karachi Murtaza Wahab said; Syed Amin-Ul-Haque had a vision to provide higher education in Orangi Town, and result is here, the management of Virtual University today gave the gift of education to the people of Orangi Town.
\nThe Karachi Metropolitan Municipality (KMC), seeing the efforts of Syed Amin-Ul-Haque, immediately provided all facilities, in the future, if we work together, we can give a strong system to the youth.
\nMQM Member of Provincial Assembly from Orangi Town, Mr. Ali Khursheedi said that, Orangi Town is famous for its slum population, there was a lack of basic facilities. When the people of Orangi Town sent us to the Parliament, we tried to provide basic facilities here.
\nThanks to the efforts of MQM Pakistan\u2019s Federal Minister Syed Amin-Ul-Haque, that higher education for the youth of Orangi Town is being made possible today.
\nSpeaking at the occasion, Secretary MOITT, Dr. Suhail Rajput said that motto of IT Ministry is to strengthen the youth and peoples of the country with the latest technologies. Its practical implementation is in the form of a new campus of Pakistan\u2019s only IT and E-LEARNING based University.
\nRector Virtual University Prof. Dr. Arshad Saleem Bhatti said that VU Graduates are preferred in IT industry due to hands on training as a self-learner while its graduates are working in dynamic fields across Pakistan at key positions including Pakistan Army. Several students are the winners of many international and local competitions.
\nIt is worth mentioning here that VU Orangi Town campus is built in just one month of time with all necessary facilities like; Campus manager office, Faculty Room, Visitor\u2019s Room \/ Waiting Area, Reception, Computer Lab, Female Common Room, Wet Lab, Scientific Store, Video Conferencing Room.
