\nGovernor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Shah Farman on Tuesday inaugurated the Community Based Fruits Orchard Project at Peenda Cheena, Lawar Kalay, Tehsil Tirah.
\nDuring his day long visit to district Khyber, Inspector General (IG) Frontier Corps Major General Adil Yameen also accompanied the governor.
\nOn this occasion, Shah Farman also inaugurated a tree planting campaign by planting trees in Lawar Kalay.
\nSecretary Agriculture Muhammad Israr informed the visitors that orchards have been planted on five acres of land in Load Kalay Zaka Khel under the auspices of Frontier Corps (North) in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Forests.
\nIt was informed in the briefing that eight different types of fruit plants including olives have been planted in the orchards.
\nAround 6,000 acres of orchards are being planted under the Frontier Corps Enforcement Project and 597,000 saplings will be planted by the end of this year.
\n5.67 million saplings will be planted on the land, the secretary added.
\nLater on, Governor KP during his visit to Khyber (Load Clay) on the occasion of inauguration of Community Based Fruits Orchard Project addressed the local tribal people.
\nHe said that Allah has endowed our country with immense natural potential, adding that Khyber district, especially the Tirah Valley, is one of the most attractive climatic zones.
\nShah Farman said that the present government was paying full attention to the proper use of natural resources, everything produced from our land is very valuable, saffron is the most valuable asset and serious steps are being taken to increase its mass production.
\nThe Governor said that Frontier Corps and Forest Department, in collaboration with Agriculture Department, were planting trees in Khyber District for economic and environmental benefit.
\nWe are well aware of the immense potential of the tribal areas which will not be wasted.
