\nPM warns PTI MNAs of action if they disobey orders

\nPrime Minister Imran Khan has \u201cstrictly\u201d directed PTI\u2019s members of the National Assembly (MNAs) to either abstain from voting or not attend the session when the no-confidence motion against him is on the agenda.
\nIn a letter to the PTI MNAs, the prime minister, who is the party\u2019s chairman, said: \u201cAll the members of the [PTI] in the National Assembly shall abstain from voting\/not attend the meeting of the National Assembly on the date when the said resolution is set out on the agenda.\u201d
\nPM Imran Khan told the MNAs that no PTI member should attend or make themselves available on the time and day of the voting on the resolution of no-confidence.
\nThe prime minister said that all members are \u201crequired to adhere to his directions in true letter and spirit\u201d and should keep in mind the \u201cintention behind the provision of Article 63(A) of the Constitution of Pakistan.\u201d
\nPM Imran Khan warned the party lawmakers that \u201cevery or any\u201d violation of the directions would be treated as an \u201cexpress defection\u201d in terms of Article 63(A).
\nThe letter also mentioned that designated PTI members would speak during the debate on the no-confidence motion.
\nThe letter comes after the Opposition lawmakers in the NA moved a no-confidence motion against embattled PM Imran Khan\u2019s government Monday, as he tries to shore up a wavering coalition over accusations of mismanagement and foreign policy bungles.
\nThe lower house will start debating the motion on Thursday and PM Imran Khan has tried to steady the ship ahead of a likely no-confidence vote next week.
\nThe prime minister is facing the biggest challenge to his rule since being elected in 2018, with opponents accusing him of dragging the country into deeper economic turmoil.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
