\nKhalid Maqbool Siddiqui says development is \u201chistoric\u201d and a \u2018test for the political leadership of the country\u2019
\nISLAMABAD
\nKhalid Maqbool Siddiqui of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) in press conference along with leaders of Joint Opposition on Wednesday, announced to end their coalition with the ruling PTI, ahead of crucial no-confidence motion on Wednesday.
\n\u201cWe have gathered here on historic moment, more than congratulations, this was a test which the national leadership has passed,\u201d MQM-P convener added.
\nHe further added that MQM-P has joined opposition to prioritize the national interest over individual interest.
\n\u201cWe have joined you (The Opposition) on this journey with some expectations, we have no individual or party benefits for future in our mind. Every clause of our agreement is for the common peoples of Pakistan and especially for those areas whom we have been representing for the last 35 years, the areas for which we believe immediate steps are needed.\u201d MQM-P leader opined.
\nOpposition Leader Shahbaz Sharif mark this day as an important day in the history of Pakistan and said that joint opposition just like a national jirga of the opposition which has come together and made efforts for national unity.
\nHe expressed gratitude to MQM-P and said \u201cI want to thank MQM-P and its workers who kept the wishes of the 220 million people of Pakistan [at heart] and made this decision.
\nI am especially thankful to Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal that through this whole process of negotiations, they kept the history aside. They have initiated this journey of Pakistan\u2019s prosperity and Karachi\u2019s happiness\u201d, he said. PML-N leader also said that the agreement that took place will be implemented with spirit.
\nChairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto also thanked MQM-P and described the decision historic.
\nBilawal said \u201cI want to repeat that PPP and MQM-P\u2019s working relationship is not related to the no-confidence motion. PPP and MQM-P have to work together under any condition, if we want to work for Karachi and Pakistan\u2019s prosperity,\u201d
\nHe also added \u201cImran Khan has now lost his majority. He is not the prime minister anymore. The parliament session is tomorrow. Let\u2019s hold voting tomorrow and settle this matter. We can then start working on transparent elections and the journey towards restoration of democracy and an end to economic crisis can then begin.\u201d
\nWhile welcoming the decision, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Chief Fazalur Rehman termed decision as an expression of unity for not only Karachi or Sindh but also in the interest of Pakistan.
