Leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday reiterated their vow to conduct the fairest elections in the country within 90 days and said that any attempt by the opposition to influence the Supreme Court would be resisted.<\/p>\n
Talking to the media, PTI leader Faisal Javed Khan said, \u201cThis election, that is going to be held within 90 days, will be the fairest election in the history of Pakistan as it will be conducted through electronic voting machines (EVMs).\u201d<\/p>\n
He added, \u201cNow, the overseas Pakistanis will also be able to cast their
\nvotes in the election from abroad. Earlier, they had to travel to
\nPakistan to cast their votes, but now, they will be able to do that
\nthrough an online voting process.\u201d<\/p>\n
He alleged that both Pakistan People\u2019s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim
\nLeague-Nawaz (PML-N) wanted to get rid of the EVMs after the success of
\nthe no-confidence motion. \u201cBut, their this conspiracy too has failed.\u201d<\/p>\n
He informed the media, \u201cThe President of Pakistan has written letters to
\nPrime Minister Imran Khan, who is set to be the former premier after a
\nfew days, and to the opposition leader for sending names of the
\ncandidates for caretaker prime minister.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added, \u201cIf names for the caretaker prime minister do not come from
\nthe opposition leader, the parliamentary procedure will be carried out
\naccordingly.\u201d He also said that the PTI was ready for general elections
\nas the potential candidates of the party had been ordered to prepare
\nthemselves for elections.<\/p>\n
He also vowed to give party tickets to the determined workers of the
\nparty as \u201cthe PTI is going to become the original PTI\u201d.<\/p>\n
Also, former information and law minister Fawad Chaudhry castigated the
\nopposition leaders for, what he alleged, making attempts to influence
\nthe Supreme Court and added: \u201cSocial media accounts being handled by
\nPML-N have also been involved in launching attacks on the Supreme
\nCourt.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also hit out at the opposition leaders for, what he said, neglecting
\nthe Apex Court\u2019s orders of not resorting to any unconstitutional act in
\nthe current circumstances.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe opposition leaders should be ashamed of taking the name of the
\nConstitution as they have no respect for it,\u201d he said and also accused
\nthe united opposition of horse-trading and Constitution breaching.<\/p>\n
He also criticised the opposition for running away from general
\nelections, and adding that any attempt to influence the Supreme Court
\nwould be resisted.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe haven\u2019t revealed all the points of the \u2018threat letter\u2019 because it is
\nin the interest of the country as well as the opposition,\u201d he said and
\nadded that there was no escape for the opposition from elections that
\nwere to be held within 90 days.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have sent a letter to the opposition leader requesting him to send a
\nname for caretaker prime minister. He does not want to become part of
\nit, the name suggested by the treasury benches will be finalised for the
\ncaretaker prime minister as per the parliamentary proceedings,\u201d he
\nstated.<\/p>\n
Moreover, PTI leader Shahbaz Gill also vowed to move the Supreme Court
\nfor investigations into the meetings of the opposition leaders with
\nforeign officials during the last year.<\/p>\n
He said that the meetings of Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif, Bilawal
\nBhutto, Hamza Shehbaz, Maryam Nawaz, and Raja Riaz with the foreign
\nofficials should be investigated.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are going to the people who are the absolute sovereign in Pakistan.
\nThe people will use their right to vote and tell whether they want to
\nelect Imran Khan or the opposition leaders,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Gill also respectfully requested courts to announce reserved verdicts
\nagainst the corruption of the opposition leaders. \u201cDoes a common person
\nget this relief? If not, they also shouldn\u2019t,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, PTI leader Shahzad Akbar expressed his optimism that the
\nlegal case of his party was strong and Imran Khan would emerge
