\nDean Elgar, the South African Test captain, continued to defend his side over accusations of \u201cunbearable sledging\u201d on Thursday \u201cin Durban during the first Test against Bangladesh.
\nBangladeshi players, he remarked, are required to \u201charden up.\u201d \u201cif they wished to compete at a high level in the game.
\nDean Elgar claimed South Africa completed the game hard but avoided cursing or using harsh words against their rivals before the second Test, which begins on Friday at St George\u2019s Park.
\nBangladesh cricket operations chief Jalal Yunus announced on Tuesday that his organization would file a formal complaint with the International Cricket Council over what he called unfair umpiring and the \u201csledging\u201d of the home team.
\nDean Elgar addressed his players with a message:
\n\u201cWe do everything with dignity, and we don\u2019t throw our badge or our name away,\u201d the South African captain stated to his players.
\n\u201cI honestly didn\u2019t witness any sledging, even on their side.\u201d I just think we need to dry our eyes now and again because this is Test cricket.
\nWith an extremely high number of 21 reviews \u2013 11 by Bangladesh and 10 by South Africa \u2013 with four reviews upheld for each team, the umpiring in Durban was the focus.
\nUnder the ICC\u2019s coronavirus restrictions, South Africans Marais Erasmus and Adrian Holdstock were in control, prompting the Bangladeshis to demand neutral umpires.
\n\u201cThe umpiring was a challenge,\u201d Dean Elgar stated. I don\u2019t believe the wicket was a factor. The bounce was inconsistent, posing a challenge to the umpires.
\nMominul Haque, the Bangladesh captain, made only a passing reference to the Durban incident, denying that he had personally spoken about the South African team\u2019s conduct.
\n\u201cI never objected to sledging.\u201d Sledging occurs in cricket, and you must absorb it,\u201d he remarked.
\nAfter recovering from illness, Mominul expressed optimism that opening batsman Tamim Iqbal will play in the second Test.
