\nBoard of Investment (BOI) Chairman Muhammad Azfar Ahsan has tendered his resignation from his post. In his resignation letter, Muhammad Azfar Ahsan said that it has been a privilege and a huge honor to serve as Chairman of Federal Board of Investment with the status of Minister of State.
\n\u201cIn my five months tenure as 1301 Chair, I am fully convinced that Pakistan has enormous opportunity at hands to bring foreign and local investment to transform our country. Though our foreign direct investment inflow is stagnant at USD 3 billion, I believe it has a potential of USD 15 to USD 20 billion per year. Though my tenure was short, I never wasted any opportunity to revamp 901 to realize that promise.\u201d
\n\u201cUnder my leadership 901 was successful in instituting 125 regulatory reforms (Asaan Karobar Program). Establishment of Pak-China Business & Investment Forum, and the signing of Framework Agreement with China are historical milestones and I feel humbled and honored that BOI signed it under my Chair. Furthermore, with the Investment Minister of our brotherly country Saudi Arabia, I have designed the investment strategy to work jointly for investments worth a few billion dollars in different sectors.\u201d
\n\u201cThe BOI\u2019s perception, in my honest view, has fully transformed as a progressive and business friendly premium investment promotion agency. The team at 601 are one of the best public servants, with the requisite passion and intellect to continue to play a central role in driving an investment agenda that Pakistan truly deserves. My parting recommendation would be to grant more empowerment and resources to BOI in line with trends followed in regional countries.\u201d
\n\u201cI am grateful to former Prime Minister Mr. Imran Khan for entrusting me with this portfolio. I believe I have served Pakistan\u2019s interest well with integrity and character. I however believe it\u2019s about time that I offered my resignation so that another colleague may be appointed by the new government. I am very much looking forward to spend more time withmy family, focus on my business and carry out other social activities in Pakistan and abroad. Long before I accepted this position, I, as a global outreach professional, had brought more than 3000 foreign nationals to Pakistan from over 45 countries in last 20 years. I will continue to do so on a much bigger scale with renewed passion and vigor,\u201d he added.
\nHe said he is very optimistic about our country\u2019s future and BOI and Pakistan will continue to have his full support in the social and economic revival of the country.
\nThe federal government on Saturday posted Irfan Nawaz, a BS-19 officer of Pakistan Administrative Service as Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Capital Territory under interior division.
\nAccording to a notification issued by Establishment Division, Irfan Nawas was presently posted under Government of Balochistan is transferred and posted as Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Capital Territory with immediate effect and until further orders.
