ISLAMABAD
\nThe power tariff is likely to be scaled up by Rs 3.15 per unit as Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has filed application with NEPRA seeking enhancement in electricity tariff. The power tariff will be increased under monthly fuel adjustment. CPPA has taken plea in the application that 10 billion units electricity was generated in the month of March. The cost of production of electricity remained Rs 94 billion. The most costly electricity was generated at the rate of Rs 22.52 per unit through furnace oil. The cost of electricity produced through LNG stood at Rs 14.36 per unit.
\nMore over electricity was imported from Iran at the rate of Rs 17.35 per unit. Line losses cost 27 paisas per unit. <\/p>\n

NEPRA will hear the application seeking increase in power tariff on April 27. <\/p>\n

In the event of acceptance of the CPPA plea, an additional burden of Rs 30 billion will be shifted to the consumers. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
