\nSenate Standing Committee on Human Rights on Friday took notice of Masjid-e-Nabvi incident and subsequent registration of FIRs.
\nThe briefing was summoned from the Ministry of Human Rights, Ministry of Home Affairs, IGP Punjab and CPO Faisalabad. The meeting of the committee has been convened in the House of Parliament on 9 May 2022.
\nRelevant authorities should attend the committee and inform the committee members about the incident and registration of FIR, said Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Human Rights Senator Waleed Iqbal.
\nWaleed Iqbal said the briefing session has been summoned from the relevant authorities on various issues like how many FIRs have been registered in the country so far as a result of this incident and what are the details?
\nAn information session has also been summoned to discuss in details the matter on alleged misuse of sections 295, 295A and 296 of the Pakistani Penal Code, including \u2018offenses related to religion\u2019.
\nWaleed Iqbal said that briefing on alleged misuse of 296, including \u2018crimes related to religion\u2019, has been sought, adding were the requirements of Section 196 of the Penal Code, 1898, complied with before the registration of the said FIR? The briefing also questions if the crime was committed in Saudi Arabia, are there similar cases?
