\nThe two day 15th Undergraduate Medical Research (UMR) conference organized by Peshawar Medical and Dental Colleges kicked off at PMC main campus.
\nThe event was launched with the welcome address by Dr Hala Rajab, the Director UMR.
\nShe briefed the audience about the history and objectives of the conference.
\nDr Adnan Saeed Khan, Director Nuclear Medicine, Oncology & Radiotherapy Institute (NORI), Islamabad inaugurated the conference and opened the posters exhibition.
\nHe lauded the research integration into the students\u2019 curricula and co-curriculum as Islam stood for a culture of truth and evidence.
\nThe conference was attended by student delegates from across the country including the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Punjab and Sindh.
\nThe event also features oral presentations, research quizzes, articles review competitions and videography competitions on diverse public health, medical, dental and social sciences.
\nDr Akifullah Khan, Director IRNUM was the keynote speaker in the plenary session on Nuclear Medicine & Molecular Imaging.
\nHe shared with the audience in detail how nuclear imaging was distinctly serving the ailing humanity by a range of techniques that transcended beyond the imaging of structural abnormalities to capturing and interpreting the function of various body parts.
\nHe further shared that research exposure during studentship was crucial for nurturing professionalism.
\nDirector IRNUM appreciated the pioneering role of Peshawar Medical & Dental Colleges in this arena and shared his personal experience that the PM&DC students were outstanding in quite several ways in comparison to students of the other colleges.
\nDr Hafeez Ur Rehman, dean Peshawar Medical & Dental Colleges presented a memento to the chief guest and the keynote speaker. Dr. Muhammad Aman Khan, Principal PMC delivered vote of thanks. The exhibition and competitions will continue and will conclude tomorrow.
