\nPakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said on Saturday that the PTI had been driven by the lust for power.
\nAddressing a function in Sialkot, he said it was wrong to say that the PTI members of the National Assembly (MNAs) wanted to resign.
\nSeconding the statement of Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, he claimed that only people from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) had participated in the party\u2019s long march on Islamabad, and that none from Punjab had turned up at the event.
\nThe minister taunted former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan for seeking refuge in Peshawar in order to evade arrest. He accused the last PTI government of minting millions from sugar and drugs scandals.
\nAsif also accused the last government of conspiring against the sovereignty of Pakistan. \u201cImran and members of his government had a party time during the last four years,\u201d he said, and added, \u201cBut now when they are out of the corridors of power, they have started attacking the state institutions.\u201d
\nHe further said that he had asked the city administration to first repair the roads on which work had already been started before turning its attention to others. \u201cWe will resolve the traffic issues of Sialkot on a permanent basis,\u201d he assured.
\nThe minister also assured people of the city that work on West Water Treatment project would not create inconvenience for them. \u201cWe plan to initiate work on the projects, which involve digging of the roads, after the monsoon season,\u201d he informed.
\nAsif alleged that the PTI government had deliberately stopped work on development projects in the city.
\nMeanwhile, an unpleasant situation developed during the address of Defence Minister Khawaja Asif to a gathering in Sialkot on Saturday when he ordered his security guard to leave the stage for listening to a call on his cellphone while the minister was delivering his speech.
\nRight at that time when Asif was addressing the function, the cellphone of one of his security guards started ringing.
\nBut instead of declining the call or turning the mobile off, the guard preferred to speak to the caller.
\nOn seeing this, the minister flew into rage, insulted the guard in front of the gathering and ultimately ordered him to leave the stage.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
