\nIslamabad High Court (IHC) has accepted the plea for withdrawing the petition filed against announcement of schedule for holding Local Bodies (LB) polls in Islamabad.
\nThe petition against announcement of schedule for holding LB Polls without increasing the number of Union Councils in Islamabad came up for hearing before IHC Tuesday.
\nThe Chief Justice (CJ) IHC remarked what notification you are referring to is not published in official gazette. The petitioners himself is in government at present. Can he not get issue a notification. You should do so that you should withdraw petition and resort to the court again after notification is published in gazette.
\nThe local leadership of PPP and PML-N challenged the notification regarding election schedule of election commission.
\nAdil Aziz Qazi advocate appeared in the court on behalf of the petitioners.
\nAdil Aziz Qazi advocate told the court if the federal government does not do any job then we have to come to court. 100 union councils were formed in January and they were notified. We request the court to call and ask about it from election commission.
\nThe court remarked parliament has not authorized election commission to determine the number of union councils. When federal government once determine them then election commission will conduct delimitation of the constituencies. Federal government has to determine about the number of union councils. It has to issue notification. What notification are you referring to has not been published in official gazette. You should withdraw the petition and approach the court again after notification is published in the gazette.
\nThe PML-N leader Tariq Fazal Chaudhry requested the court that he wanted to say something. Election commission has said that doubtlessly it is decision of the cabinet. But they will not implement it.
\nIt is requested to court that it should issue direction. We should be given some time or should be allowed to withdraw the petition.
